Addressing unprofessional behaviour between healthcare staff

Prof. Jill Maben is Professor of Health Services Research and Nursing at the University of Surrey, United Kingdom. She is a nurse and social scientist and her research focuses on supporting staff to care well. She has published over 100 peer reviewed papers and has received grants totalling over £10 million. Prof. Maben was awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) by the Queen in June 2014 for services to nursing and healthcare. Her programme of work seeks to understand the links between staff wellbeing at work and patient experiences of care. Prof. Maben’s work investigates the emotional costs of caring and staff psychological wellbeing at work. She completed the first UK national evaluation of Schwartz Centre Rounds in the UK and has recently completed a review of psychological ill-health in nurses, midwives and paramedics. Other recent work includes evaluating the Freedom to Speak up Guardian role.
